March Madness 2020 @ Midland Brew House

It is officially the most wonderful time of the year, and no, I ain’t talking Christmas.  Well, maybe you can call it a gambling man’s Christmas….I’M TALKING ABOUT MARCH MADNESS PEOPLE!

Year after year this gratefully intense tournament brings everyone a fair share of victory and defeat. We sometimes get our classic superior team, like the 2011 Kentucky Wildcats, who were led by the talents of eventual first overall pick Anthony Davis. Sometimes it’s the teams you least expect to win the game, like when no. 16 seed UMBC (Maryland Baltimore County) stunned the nation and beat no. 1 seed Virginia Cavaliers back in 2018. For Virginia, however, their determination to win would only grow stronger and in 2019 they were able to capture the first title in their program’s history. Truly remarkable.

If there was ever a lesson to be learned from watching March Madness it would be that nothing about it is predictable. College hoops has been quite a ride this year with an extreme amount of ups and downs and I don’t plan on that changing once the tournament starts. We have our top teams like Kansas, Duke, and Gonzaga, but none of them have really shown anything this year to prove they are unstoppable. In fact, Duke was on the receiving end of one of the biggest upsets on the year losing 85-83 to SF. Austin while the Blue Devils were favored by 28 points. There are even teams who have put together a historic year for their respected program, like San Diego State, who have stealthily put together a very impressive season which has resulted in only 1 loss on the year. Yes. You guessed it. That 1 loss came from an upset.

So I think I have made myself pretty clear when saying that upsets are going to be the trend come this March. I will also make myself clear when saying that I will be watching every single upset that occurs at Midland Brew House. You want to talk big upsets? Not going to Midland Brew House is a big upset. I mean they got draft selection of over 40 different beers….not 4….40! They also have an incredible variety of entrees from your classic bar foods all the way to delicious tacos. Midland Brew House has the official stamp of approval for a full send. I cannot wait to sit down for the first day of games, order a nice cold Blue Moon, a nice juicy burger, and watch all these upsets that we’re in store for. It is a true sports fan’s heaven. You simply cannot make a bad choice (or bad bet for that matter) while at Midland Brew House.
